A Few Thoughts on the new Jay-Z single
Jay-Z is releasing his new album Blueprint 3 on September 11th to coincide with the 8th anniversary of both 9/11 and the relase of his classic The Blueprint. As a result he released the above single Run this Town featuring Kanye West and Rihanna on Friday.
First and foremost Kanye fulfills his lifelong goal of outrhyming his mentor on the same song. The fact that Jay let this happen on his own 1st single shows just how far Jay-Z has fallen. Mind you Kanye has probably been pissed for quite some time about the ass kicking that Jay-Z gave him on the Diamonds from Sierra Leone remix. Kanye probably spent weeks thinking of this verse when he found out that Big Brother was actually going to let him rap on his single, and Jay probably came up with his verse within 20 minutes. Unfortunately for Jay this is very apparent to listeners.
Secondly Beyonce must not be too impressed that Jay-z chose his young mistress protege Rihanna to sing the hook, instead of keeping it in the family by choosing his wife. If I were Beyonce I would be mighty worried about the strange relationship that Jay-Z and Rihanna have.
Finally I’d like to point out that it is probably no coincidence that a couple days after I reintroduced the term, “No Homo” into popular culture it pops up in a song that will probably receive massive radioplay. Clearly Kanye is an avid follower of this blog because I personally had not heard that used in a song since probably 2006.
Most quotable line:
“This a fast life, we are on a crash course.
What you think I rap for, to push a a fucking RAV4?”
