Entrepreneurial Idea of the Week
Vampires are in. Fact. Twilight is selling more than The Bible and True Blood is the hot new show on HBO. The problem is that the marketers of this vampire craze are missing half the market, namely men. Now I realize that girls are more likely to be in to this stuff than guys for a variety of reasons, but I think book publishers are missing out on a lot of coin by targeting vampires only to girls. Put it this way, if your 10 year old son is reading a Twilight novel, you should just tell him your cool with him being gay, and in doing so avoid those awkward teenage years.
I digress. The idea I had is to make a novel aimed at young men that presents vampires as something other than brooding emo kids like Robert Pattinson (I think the above picture was actually designed to turn boys off Twilight). The movie would naturally star Shia Laboeuf and include drinking/drugs, weightlifting, and premarital sex (In the 1st book, not the 4th one). It would be badass and help bring the vampire craze to the adolescent male market. The first book will be called:
Dusk
Look for it at your local Chapters during 3rd quarter 2010.
